Why I'm Running

Board of Equalization 2018

Why I'm Running...

I have devoted my professional life to helping people, improving the business environment and providing leadership and oversight for large development projects in Southern California.

I was raised in Los Angeles County, and I raised my family in Santa Monica. I know the issues that confront the region and have worked diligently to meet each and every challenge. As a Santa Monica City Council member for the last eight years and former Mayor, I have championed smart growth, working with constituents, developers, civic organizations and other elected officials.

While Mayor of Santa Monica from 2015 to 2016, we ushered in the completion of major projects including:

  • The restructuring and rebuilding of the California Incline auto and bike roadway;

  • The completion of the Metro Expo Line Extension to Santa Monica Beach;

  • The redesign and completion of the Colorado Esplanade redevelopment project.

As a current member of the Santa Monica City Council Audit Committee, current treasurer of the Independent Cities Association, and numerous boards of civic, political and business organizations, I know how to get things done. With every challenge, our teams have risen above the ordinary to accomplish extraordinary results.

I will use my extensive experience, vast network of supporters, and concern to make sure everyone and every business pays their fair share of taxes, to improve and overcome all challenges confronting the California Board of Equalization.

Please join me, and my team, to keep California Moving Ahead.
